The data was presented by researchers at the annual meeting of the North America Radiological Society

The annual meeting of the North America Radiological Society (RSNA) presented very promising results of the use of artificial intelligence in medicine. During the meeting, researchers reported that patients who used technology had 21% of chance of detecting breast cancer early.
This is the first report on the results of a program which provides an improved review based on the AI in which patients can choose to register. The results create the hope of increasing the use of the tool for the diagnosis of a series of diseases.
How does the program work
The work has considered 10 clinical practices which offer patients a monitoring program for monitoring with artificial intelligence. The radiographs of women who have opted for the program were examined by a specialist and then by AI software. If the revisions were incompatible with each other, a second radiologist would analyze the case.

A total of 747,604 patients were analyzed. According to the researchers, the cancer detection rate was around 43% higher for those enrolled in the program compared to those who have not participated in the work.
According to the study, although 22% of this increase is attributed to the fact that women at risk of contracting cancer were more likely to register for the program, the remaining 21% is linked to the use of artificial intelligence.
